Chicago's beautiful forest preserves define the outlying neighborhood of Edgebrook, part of the Forest Glen area, which many residents consider one of the greatest benefits of living there.  Some residents regularly picnic in the preserves, and many head to the forests for some golf at the nine-hole Billy Caldwell Golf Course or 18-hole Edgebrook Golf Course.

Edgebrook's wide tree-lined streets, park-like atmosphere, and its charming homes, give the neighborhood a mid-20th Century hometown character.  One of Chicago's most distinguished and influential communities, Edgebrook divides itself into five micro-neighborhoods: North Edgebrook, Wildwood, Middle Edgebrook, South Edgebrook, and Old Edgebrook.

The start of the North Branch Bike Trail is in Edgebrook, which then leads bicyclists to other trails taking them all the way to Glencoe's Chicago Botanic Garden.

Although it may seem far from Chicago's Loop, it's only a 23 minute ride on the Metra's Milwaukee North District Line trains.

Edgebrook boasts one of the lowest crime rates in the city of Chicago and is populated by a lot of police officers and firemen.

Its downtown is the kind of little locally-owned, everybody-knows-your-name business district with many great restaurants flanking the downtown streets.

Edgebrook is about as good as a city neighborhood gets, a great place to raise a family, and a great place to live.
